Istanbul Intelligence is an effort to intellectualy grasp the metroplis of Istanbul. In other words “what makes Istanbul tick?” And vice versa; trying to understand the world from the perspective of Istanbul. We use Istanbul as a metaphor to understand the world.

Banu Alpay
Banu is a designer who was born and raised in Turkey and has matured in New York. She went to school in Parsons School of Design, started out with product but finished as a communication designer in 2005. She has been freelancing for different companies such as !K7 Records, Victoria’s Secret and more on projects varying from retail store graphics to website design.Recently she has moved back to Istanbul to get to know her home town better and to spend more time with her family. However she’s still happily stuck in between the two cities she loves the most. Banu joined Istanbul Intelligence early 2007.

Edwin Gardner
Edwin (1980) is an editor and organizer on the move. He is Dutch and studies architecture at the Technical University in Delft. Edwin organized events such as the Projective Landscape conference, was and is board member of different organisations (Stylos, Argus, Ontwerpfront), and one of the founding members of Difuzyon. Currently he is working as web editor for Archis/Volume, as editor for _front and dj’ing in the Rundfunk DJ collective. Edwin started Istanbul Intelligence in the late summer og 2007 when he moved to Istanbul to study there for half a year at ITU, Taskisla.
